ReliefMe is a responsive web application designed to help users express their emotions through personal diary writing. The system uses AI to analyze emotional tone and assess how those experiences impact users’ daily lives. Based on the analysis, it recommends articles, activities, or workshops that help relieve stress and promote emotional well-being.

In today’s fast-paced world, many people struggle with stress, emotional fatigue, and the inability to express their feelings safely.
Although journaling is known to help with emotional release, most people don’t know where to start, or feel uncertain about whether writing alone can really help.
Existing platforms often lack genuine empathy, emotional intelligence, and tools that help users understand and navigate their feelings
ReliefMe is designed as a safe emotional space where users can freely express and reflect on their feelings through daily diary writing.
The system uses AI-powered sentiment analysis to understand users’ emotions and mental states, then provides personalized recommendationssuch as articles, activities, or workshops that match their current mood and help relieve stress.
Additionally, ReliefMe tracks emotional progress over time, allowing the AI to refine its recommendations and deliver a more personalized and supportive experience for each user.

Landingpage
The landing page is designed to clearly introduce users to the web app, showing them what it can do. Users can also easily sign up for an account or log in to access their personalized experience.

User Home
users are greeted with a calendar that displays their personal entries and activities. The page may also feature recommended articles or content related to the user’s current emotions, providing guidance, inspiration, or support.

User Diary
Users can select the date they wish to record and choose a category that best fits their experience, allowing the system to analyze their stories more accurately and meaningfully.

User Mood Result
The system uses natural language processing (NLP) for sentiment analysisto determine whether a user’s writing expresses positive or negative emotions.

User Activities
The platform offers a variety of activities for users to explore, including DIY projects and outdoor activities. Users can also create and share their own activity posts, allowing others to try them out, participate, and showcase their results within the community.

User Profile
Users can edit their information and personalize their profilesto reflect their individuality. They can also earn and collect points through writing diaries or participating in activities, adding a sense of progress and motivation to their experience on the platform.

Admin Management
The admin panel allows efficient management of users, personal tests, DIY activities, activity approvals, reports, and blogs, providing full control over the platform’s backend operations.

What I Learned
From user testing conducted with students during a three-day open house and with online users over one month, it became clear that users express more complex emotionsand thoughts than originally anticipated. The existing diary feature, which required selecting a problem category, was not suitable and lacked engaging elements to motivate users to write consistently. Moreover, the development process was based on team assumptions rather than real user insights, leading to a product that failed to resonate with users and did not effectively address their true needs.
Areas for Improvement
Conduct more in-depth research and user interviews to understand real user needs. Build the system with a user-centered approach, identifying motivating factors that encourage engagement. Implement AI capable of accurately identifying the type of message or emotion users want to convey, and apply it in a way that is highly relevant and meaningful to the user experience.
